Ingredients used in Moong Dal Oats Shorba
• Moong dal/split green gram - 1 cup.
• Salt - pinch.
• Oil - as required.
• Ginger (finely chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Garlic (finely chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Onion (finely chopped) - 1/2 number.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Tomatoes (chopped) - 1 number.
• Carrot (grated) - as required.
• Mint leaves - 1/2 bunch.
• Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 1/2 bunch.
• Pepper powder (crushed) - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Boil moong dal in water by seasoning with a pinch of salt to a mash consistency.
  • Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan, add finely chopped ginger, onion, garlic, cumin seeds, saute it.
  • Then add chopped tomatoes, grated carrot, salt along with hot water and boil it.
  • Once the water comes to boil, add boiled moong dal, and let it cook for about 2 minutes.
  • After that, add fresh mint leaves, chopped coriander leaves, andmix well.
  • Later season it with crushed pepper powder, mix well, cook for about a minute by adding oats and turn the flame off.
  • At last, sprinkle fried brown onion on top and give it a mix.
