Ingredients used in Fried Khichidi
• For plain khichidi:rice - 1 cup.
• Moong dal - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Ghee - as required.
• Water - as required.
• For fried khichidi:oil - as required.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 number.
• Green chillies (chopped) - 2 number.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Cloves - 4 number.
• Cardamom - 2 number.
• Cinnamon stick (1 inch) - 2 number.
• Shahi jeera - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Roast moong dhal in a pan on low flame. Add rice to it and wash together.
  • Add salt and double the quantity of water and soft cook it in a vessel or pressure cooker.
  • Add ghee when almost done and mix well.
  • Serve hot with papad and tomato rasam or minced meat curry.

Delicious plain khichidi is ready!

  • You can make fried khichidi by adding spice mixture (mainly whole garam masala) before boiling rice and moong dhal.
  • For making fried khichidi, fry onions, green chillies, and ginger garlic paste together and add whole garam masala (cloves, cardamom, shahi jeera, and cinnamon) to it.
  • Add this mixture to rice and dhal mix and stir well before pressure cooking it.
