Ingredients used in Kaala Charu
• Boiled paya - 1 & half cup.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Fennel seeds - half tea spoon.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 number.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Cloves - 3 number.
• Cinnamon stick (1 inch) - 1 number.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 bunch.
• Tomatoes (chopped) - 2 number.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chili powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Crushed pepper - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, chopped onion, salt and saute it till onions are slightly transparent.
  • Now, add curry leaves, cloves, cinnamon stick, chopped coriander leaves and cook it well.
  • In the same pan, add chopped tomatoes and stir it.
  • Then season it with coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and cook it well.
  • In it, add boiled paya along with 1 cup of water and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  • At last, flavor with crushed pepper, chopped coriander leaves and serve it with rice.
